Victoria Beckham Goes Green Thursday, Sep 9 2010

Victoria Beckham

Fashionista Victoria Beckham was seen wearing a Lola wool crepe shift by Goat, a British label which is already a favourite among stars such as Sienna Miller, Elle Macpherson and Gwyneth Paltrow. The 36-year-old designer is in New York for the city’s fashion week.

Monaco’s Prince Albert Engaged Wednesday, Jun 23 2010

HSH Prince Albert and Charlene Wittstock

It has been announced the HSH Prince Albert of Monaco, 52, is engaged to his long-time girlfriend Charlene Wittstock.

Wittstock, a 32-year-old former olympic swimmer from South Africa, met the prince in 2000 and has lived in Monaco since 2006.  The stunningly beautiful blonde already has onlookers drawing comparisons to Albert’s late mother, Princess Grace (film and fashion icon Grace Kelly).

Everyone’s Nude Tuesday, Jun 8 2010

From gowns to shoes and every accessory in between, “nude” is the shade to wear right now.  This champange color has even been the subject of a hot debate after First Lady Michelle Obama wore a so-called nude gown (pictured above) at a recent state dinner. Many felt that since the gown didn’t come close to matching her skin tone it shouldn’t be described as nude.

Debra Messing’s Big Mistake Thursday, Jun 3 2010

Can you spot the problem?

Even a style savvy celebrity can have an off day.  Actress Debra Messing is one of my fashion faves, but she made a big misstep at the Crystal Lucy awards in LA on Tuesday evening.

Her belted black minidress and slender clutch were fabulous. Her beautiful red hair was pulled back to showcase her gorgeous face and her jewelry was kept to a minimum. Perfect!

Her shoes on the other hand…Oy vey! The strappy sandals were not only the wrong color (almost chalky looking against her sun-kissed skin), they also made Messing’s feet look huge as her toes spilled over the front.

Debra darling I still LOVE you, but there is a stylist somewhere that needs a serious reprimand for this horrendous fashion offense.

New Coffee Table Books! Wednesday, Jun 2 2010

I just purchased two wonderful books that chronicle (in pictures) the careers of two of my favorite ladies, Audrey Hepburn and Barbra Streisand. Filled with page after glossy page of pictures that showcase their evolving fashion sense these books would make great gifts for the fashionista in your life.

Avoiding Graduation Faux Pas Tuesday, Jun 1 2010

It’s graduation season across the country and a great time to discuss appropriate outfit options.  I recently attended both a college and a high school graduation ceremony and was appalled by what some of the guests (and the graduates for that matter) chose to wear.  Surprisingly, the high school ceremony had a much better dressed crowd overall than the college ceremony. But there were huge faux pas at both.

As a general rule I believe jeans, tee shirts and flip flops  are all automatically a DON’T.  Let’s start treating these ceremonies like the special occasions they are and not like a trip to the local flea market.  Below are great options that are comfortable and chic.

Happy Memorial Day (US) Monday, May 31 2010

Today is Memorial Day in the United States.  It’s the day we pause to celebrate those who have died while serving in the armed forces. We also celebrate those who are currently serving. During times of war I think it is important to remember the soldiers who are sacrificing so much to protect the nation.  Our military is under-paid and under-appreciated.

Even if you have no one in your life currently serving in the military I hope you will take a moment today to pause and acknowledge the selfless sacrifices being made on foriegn soil for your freedom and mine. Sacrafices being made by American soldiers and soldiers from allied nations.  More important, take a moment to pray for peace.

Louis Vuitton Reopens In London Sunday, May 30 2010

Louis Vuitton reopened its newly renovated London store last week to much fanfare.  There were plenty of celebrities in attendance, but what thrilled me most was seeing disco diva Donna Summers and legendary french actress Catherine Deneuve.  These ladies looked fabulous!

RIP: Evelyn Cunningham Saturday, May 29 2010

First let me apologize because I am almost a month late in reporting this.

Evelyn Cunningham, famed civil rights era reporter, passed away in April at the age of 94.  Ms. Cunningham was a pioneering african american female reporter during a time when women were usually relegated to stories about fashion and homemaking. She covered the hard stories playing out in the african american community, even earning the nickname the Lynching Editor for her coverage of the brutal hangings that happened during those turbulent times.

A tall and stylish lady she lived in Harlem, NY most of her life and served as an advisor to Governor Nelson Rockefeller. Married four times she had no children of her own but raised her niece Gigi Freeman. Frequently photographed at social functions throughout New York City, Cunningham remained active in the community.
